Suitably, Xerneas name starts with an X. It has the form of a deer, with colorful horns and a black and blue fur. Its body posture is supposed to represent an X.

The second among the new legendary Pokémon is Yveltal. It will be seen on the cover to the Y-edition of the game. "Somewhere on your journey, you may discover the whereabouts of the Legendary Pokémon Yveltal."

Yveltal kinda looks like a flying version of the legendary Pokémon Groudon. It is colored black and red. And it's wings and tail form a Y.

Depending on which edition of Pokémon X and Y you choose, you can either encounter Xerneas or Yveltal on your adventure in the Kalos region.

This new Pokémon was indeed revealed to be a new form of the legendary Pokémon Mewtwo. It is not the next step in its evolution, but in fact a form change like the one we know from Shaymin.
